Notes on the Circuit Diagram Wizard

Basic information about Treesoft CAD drawing files

Treesoft CAD drawing files are structured by layer and always contain 255 layers. When creating schematics in our CAD program, a schematic sheet is always drawn on one layer. Within a project, multiple drawing files can be logically linked together. This results in a projectable plan volume of several thousand schematic sheets per project, whereby:

Each layer can be set to active, visible, or invisible.
One layer is always actively switched on.
The active layer is always visible on the screen.
All newly drawn or inserted objects are saved on the active layer.
The drawing frame is located on level 255.
When designing a circuit diagram, each level corresponds to one sheet of the circuit diagram.

Treesoft CAD drawing file types

The different CAD documents for a project are automatically assigned to a group and can be identified by the first three letters of the file name.

Circuit diagram = Vpl*.zng
Cover page = Cov*.zng
Table of contents = Idx*.zng
Terminal diagram = Ter*.zng
Wiring diagram = Cab*.zng
Cable overview diagram = Cas*.zng
Wiring diagram = Wir*.zng
Device list = Pas*.zng
Production bill of materials = Pro*.zng

If a drawing file cannot be assigned to a group, it is listed under the general group “Miscellaneous.” Treesoft CAD project management also allows you to manage all external documents related to a project.

When designing circuit diagrams with our CAD software, we recommend that you display the grid so that you can always find a clean connection between the symbols when drawing.

The grid can be turned on or off in the “Tools” menu. If you also select the Snap to Grid command, the crosshairs will move exactly to the grid displayed.

The grid points are not saved or printed, but are merely a design aid.
